Smarts Brook
Just off of Route 49, Smarts Brook is a great trail to bring the family to! The trail is just over 2 miles round trip, making for roughly an hour long adventure. Along your peaceful walk you will find waterfalls and great scenery. There is just a small increase in elevation on the trail, making for a moderately easy hike and serene experience. Check out the trail on your way in or out of the valley!
Mad river path
Mad River Path is a part of the Winter Walking Routes in the valley. The path can be accessed from the Village Trail or West Branch Road. The trail is 0.85 miles long, with some slightly steep sections, as well as a stream crossing on large boulders. We recommend traction as areas of the trail can become icier than others. Listen to the Mad River run as you walk along the path, surrounded by snow covered trees and those that you love most.
Cascade Path and Snow’s Mountain
If you are seeking something moderately challenging, the Cascade Path is a longer hike. The path is 4.4 miles round trip, starting at the base of Snow’s Mountain. Along the way you will find excellent views of the cascades, with waterfalls and frozen swimming holes. You will find Lower Snow’s Mountain trails along the way, connected by bridges. The Cascade Path and Snow’s Mountain trails are a fun challenge for you and your family in the winter months.
Mount Tecumseh Trail
With a trailhead located just before the resort on Ski Area Road, the Mount Tecumseh Trail is one of the more challenging hikes in and around Waterville Valley. Mount Tecumseh is one of New Hampshire’s 4000 footers and will bring incredible views the higher you ascend. The hike is 4.9 miles round trip and should take roughly 3-4 hours. Enjoy views of the valley while being just left of the Northside ski slopes!
